April: Taijiquan Jing 太極拳經

Sunday 12 April 2:00pm

Join Sam Au, President of WTQA, for an exploration of the Taijiquan Jing (Tai Chi Chuan Classic 太極拳經), one of the foundational texts of Taijiquan, traditionally attributed to the legendary Daoist monk Zhang Sanfeng.

This concise yet profound classic opens with the well-known line:

一舉動周身俱要輕靈,尤須貫串。
In motion, the whole body should be light and agile; and importantly, it must be internally threaded together.

In this webinar, Sam will unpack the meaning and practical implications of these words for contemporary practitioners.

Biography

Sam Au has been practising martial arts for over 50 years and teaching Tai Chi since 1987. He is skilled in all five major Tai Chi styles as well as a wide range of traditional weapons. Since joining the WTQA committee in 2006, Sam has worn many hats — Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, festival organiser, and now President.
